After a four-day residence at SolPrint Studio, Baltimore, with artist and experimental printmaker, Soledad Salame, I returned to Houston and continued to work with artist printmaker Armando Rodriguez on producing a series of 20 additional different prints in three different formats. It was right before the lockdown, from January to March, 2020.

 

With previous knowledge from my first residency at SolPrint Studio, I produced what are to me the two most complete of the 21 pieces. They not only involved three different printing techniques but they had also demanded previous planning and a base print. This was the result of the guidance, profound knowledge, and experience Soledad offered me. It was a rigorous and enriching experience.

 

Back in Houston, I explored the media in a freer and more playful way. Both these printmaking practices were captivating. They expanded a world of expressive possibilities for me.
